Carol Monaghan Writes to UK Government on Ukraine

The scenes coming from Ukraine are utterly devastating. With no concern for civilian lives, Putin’s military is carrying out a full-scale invasion, the likes of which not seen on European soil since WWII. At this critical moment, the governments of the democratic world must all step up in support.

I have been inundated with constituents calling for the UK Government to do more. It is clear that the people of Glasgow North West stand firmly in solidarity with the people of Ukraine. Earlier this week I wrote to the Home Secretary in order to convey the thoughts of constituents who have been in touch with me, including those calling for the UK to open its borders, in the same manner as many other countries, to those fleeing the conflict.
